Andrew Gilmore (6-3 Sophomore Guard, Stillwater, MN - Stillwater Area H.S.)

2005-06: Played JV

High School: Team captain...averaged 16.5 points and 5 assists for a Stillwater Area team that had a 20-10 record and advanced to the Elite Eight in Class 4A, the highest classification in Minnesota...connected on 58 3-pointers his senior season and shot 40 percent from beyond the arc...all-conference selection and honorable mention all-stater…member of the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association All-Stars series.

Ron Rose: "You talk about 'combo-guards', who can play the 1 or the 2, and that is Andrew....Has a world of potential as a perimeter player...is establishing himself as one of the leaders on the team...understands what we need to do offensively and defensively…a fierce competitor…we're going to need a big year out of Andrew both handling the basketball, understanding game situations, as well as giving us a scoring threat on the perimeter."

Titan Nation,

Well, it has definitely been an interesting road through conference thus far. I don't think anyone expected a six game losing streak, but I guess sometimes things just don't go your way. Regardless of our wins and losses, this season has more than ever allowed me to realize how lucky I am to be a member of the Titans. I have never felt more connected to my teammates and fans as I do now. With the support of our fans, teammates, former players and coaches along with how hard we're working I definitely believe it is going to be a much better second half of the conference season for us.

The game on Wednesday against North Central proved how much determination we have to get a few "W's." We played hard, together and smart (for the most part). I can't even begin to explain how fun that game was and how excited I am for Saturday against Elmhurst. It should be a great game and we understand how important it is if we want to make it into that conference tourney.

We have now successfully finished 26 practices, not including scrimmages, and have yet to play a game. Words cannot explain how incredibly long some of those pre-season practices can get. At the same time, it does make the excitement of playing our first games up in Whitewater that much better. There has definitely been some differences between the practice and coaching styles of Coach Rose as compared to Trost, but it's still basketball which we all love to play. I feel like through the first month of practice we have made great strides in improving our team. I firmly believe that we are going to really surprise a lot of people in the CCIW and nationally.

Coming from last year, it has been a much different mind set for me. Last year I knew from the get go that I really had no chance of seeing much of the court. I was just hoping to be a travel player. Coming into the season this year I have had every intention of being a leader on the team and filling in one of the guard spots. It's been different but very exciting and fun at the same time. And it's been especially different with a new coach because no one really knew where they stood (other than the Freeman's) after losing eight senior along with a coach. Because of this practices have been very intense throughout the preseason.

With the Freeman's and Darius running the floor this year we are really going to be a fun team to watch, pending the point guard (#22) is willing to give the ball up. People have really been doubting us so far this year which is actually kind of nice I think. We'll have a chance to sneak up on some people who won't be expecting us to be any good since Zach is really the only proven player we have. We just keep living by the motto that "Tradition doesn't graduate." We are a bunch of unproven players who know we can play with anybody in the CCIW and the country. We're all looking forward to another fun season and as always appreciate all the support of the great Titan fans.
