Entry #2 - December 28, 2006

Hey Titan Fans,

Getting done with the first semester was such a relief. Knowing that I could concentrate on rehabilitation and relaxing was one thing I was pumped about. I was able to achieve a 3.32 GPA, so I am happy about that. My first college semester is over, and it flew by so fast that it seems like it never happened. One thing I was looking forward to was going back home.

I have two older brothers, Ryan, who attends Indiana University, and Kevin, who is a decathlete at Miami of Ohio. I also have a younger brother, Griffin, and a younger sister, Michaela. Along with seeing my parents, I was real excited to get to go home for Christmas and hang out with the family. We were able to open presents from Santa on Christmas morning, and then my mom and dad cooked up a solid meal at night. We watched the movie Invincible afterwards; I recommend this movie, it is a real great motivator.

But after the nice break, the team and I are back to reality at school. We are practicing real hard for the upcoming Albion game, and of course, the conference games in January. I believe the non-conference season went well. Although the team, and the fans, might of expected a better record coming out of the non-conference games I believe that we were able to grow as a team and find out our weaknesses. We obviously know that we haven't peaked yet, so if we can put things together going into this conference season, then things could be looking good.

As for the status of my foot, things are getting better. As much as I want to jump back on the court and compete with my teammates, I can't rush my comeback. I can involve my self in drills according to my pain tolerance, but I can't compete against others yet. It has been very frustrating to sit out this season and I am looking forward to getting back. So as of now, I am hoping to get back sometime in January, but my foot needs to be fully healed.

Hope you all did not fall asleep reading this journal, but I'd like to give a shout out to Brian Nussbaum. He went through surgery last Monday, and I hope people keep his recovery in mind.

Hope to see you at home vs. Albion this Saturday and at all of the CCIW games.

Entry #1 - November 14, 2006

Hey Titan Fans,

Well this is the first entry of my career at Illinois Wesleyan, but I am getting used to "firsts." The transition to college has been a big step for me, but I believe I am handling it well, and I am learning every practice, and every scrimmage.

Another step for me this year is a new coach. Coach Rose has made my transition from high school to college smooth.  The passion he has for the game is second to none, and combining that with the passion of Coach Hutson, Stein, and Martel, is making things intense around practices. I think by simulating the intensity of games in practices, we will be more prepared for this coming friday at Whitewater.

Speaking of games, our scrimmages against St. Francis and Blacknburn went very well and were very important for us as a team. Both scrimmages helped us see what we need to work on. I believe we need to be all "on the same page" on defense, and offensively, I think we need to slow down, set our screens, and finish.

Well, the season starts this friday at Whitewater and I am very excited to get into some intense games. I think the team is ready to really battle other teams, instead of each other on the practice court. I am looking forward to a fun, successful season.

Just to personalize my journal, just wanted to congratulate my parents, Steve and Brenda. November 7th was their 25th anniversary.  They are the greatest parents out there and have always been there for me!

Hope to see you all up in Whitewater, or Nov. 21st at Shirk.
