I'm back Titan fans!

So we just finished our first tournament of the season and we won it which was great. It was a lot of fun to finally play some other players and have it count for something. The Manchester win was in-region so that's big for us because last year we didn't get into the NCAA Tournament because we didn't win enough of those games.

The trip itself was a great time- even though we're in college we still love going on trips and sleeping in hotels. I stayed with Sean Johnson and Matt Schick- Coach Rose was smart enough to keep the triangle together. (The three of us decided to be called the triangle last year because whenever we were on the same team in open gyms we would win.) Anyway, that didn't keep Duncan and most everybody else from coming into our room. Actually immediately after we got to the hotel Duncan came in our room and flipped our chair over then ran away screaming. So we stole his pillow and didn't give it back until we left. Speaking of pillows I left one of mine at the hotel which really sucks because I need a lot of pillows to sleep and I only have one left.

In our room I got one of the beds all to myself because I won the paper-scissors- rock game. I still think it's funny that BC and Eric McCullough had to share a bed together and they are the two biggest kids on the team.

So Sean Johnson won the Tournament MVP and if JMO can dedicate a whole paragraph to him then so can I. If there was one person in the whole world that I could be, it would be Sean Johnson, he is sexy, smart and he's the greatest basketball player ever. He is my idol and I love living next to him. However, there is one thing that I am significantly better than him at- Mario Kart Battles (and he knows it) Sean I know you're going to read this and love it.

Sean you are so nice and sweet

You are perfect from your head to your feet

You love to make three's

And are cooler than Bee's Knees

Just keep being you

And doing what you do

You're like a basketball emcee

And my favorite MVP

You are my American Idol.

Back to basketball, we have another game a week from today and we need to make sure we come out prepared. Maryville is going to be a good test for us and it's going to be our first home game of the season. I just have to make sure I don't eat too much when I go home for Thanksgiving break. I know Coach Rose is going to run us to death the practice after break because we'll have to get back in shape.

Well thanks for reading my journal and I'll see you guys soon!

Titan Fans,

I'm pretty excited I get to write a few of these journals for you. I've read the other ones that have been written and those are too boring for me, so I'll let you know what really goes on in our lives as student-athletes.

Let me start by explaining my day yesterday to you. I woke up around 8:45 and then ran to my 9:00 accounting class. This year we live in Martin Hall, I think it's about a 10 mile walk to any of my classes or the Shirk Center, but all of us sophomores have rooms close to each other which makes up for the extra walking we have to do. I sit next to Sean Johnson and my roommate Michael Kempf. Sean always tries to wake me up early to go to breakfast, but I just throw things at him until he leaves. In accounting I took a few pages of notes and we then went over our homework from the previous night. Then I went back to Martin where I slept from 11:00 to 1:30, very interesting I know. I woke up Matt Schick and made him go to meal exchange with me, which is where I can get a sub or a sandwich instead of the regular meal we get at Saga. After that I went to my Astronomy class where we learned more about nuclear fusion. Following Astronomy I went to Business Statistics where we got a project back and learned about regression lines. After classes ended, it was time for practice. I went back to Martin and drove to Shirk with Mike. On our way there, I got pulled over for not having a front license plate and was given a ticket. Then we had to rush to practice and I got a flat tire on the way. Great start to practice. During practice we went over the usual, started by stretching, worked on some defensive drills, did a lot of running, and ended practice by scrimmaging. After practice we did our homework and then we got dressed up in our Halloween costumes, I was a woopie cushion, Mike was Lil Wayne, Sean was Coach Rose, Travis was Coach Hutson, Schick was Duncan, Duncan was Schick, and Edmond was Batman. That's basically our lives, class, basketball, homework, and maybe some woopie cushion.

A little bit about me, I am a Business Administration major and am looking to go into Investment Banking (a little scary now I know). I am currently single so if you have any nice daughters go ahead and introduce them to me after a game. I live in Homer Glen which is really close to Orland Park. I have one brother (Dave) and two sisters (Stephanie and Holly). My mom (Mary Jo) comes to a lot of the games and I'm sure you'll hear her yelling at some point. She often yells, "Do work from the inside, Doug!" or "Travis you better get Doug the ball!"

Next year, seven of us sophomores are going to be living together in a house off Main St. It's going to be called the Dude Ranch and you're all invited! After the season is over, we're going to sell our plasma for two weeks to get enough money to buy a 50 inch plasma TV. We're calling it operation plasma for plasma.

As for the basketball season, I can't put into words how excited I am. We were just recently ranked 18th in the country which is definitely an honor, but now we have to show why we're better than that. Three other teams in our league were ranked higher than us so we have some work to do and some people to prove wrong. Last season there were zero expectations for us. This year is a different story. We're not going to sneak up on anybody. Every night is going to be a battle, especially in our conference. Every single team is good and if you're not ready to play, you're going to get beat.

P.S. I'm not sure if you've read Dwyer's Player Journal but I met his little sister and he really does call her gas guzzla, he's just a creep.
