Entry #1 - October 31, 2008

Titan Nation,

I thought I would start my first journal off by introducing myself to all the Titan basketball fans that only know me from what they see me in uniform. I am a nineteen-year-old sophomore from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. I went to Glenbard West High School where I played football and basketball all four years. I am now studying economics and I still have no idea what I want to do after I graduate in a few more years. My parents are Dennis and Kathy who live at home with my little sister Bridget and my little brother Ian. They are around at most of our games especially the ones closer to home like Wheaton, Elmhurst and North Central. Bridget is a senior in high school and Ian is a freshman. Bridget is interested in playing volleyball in college, but from what I have heard from my parents, I don't know how interested she is in Wesleyan. Her loss though. I know I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else but IWU.

Its still October and we already have two weeks of practice under our belts. I remember how rough the year started off last year and from my perspective we seem leaps and bounds ahead of where we were last year. Practices are starting to get more and more competitive as all the newcomers get acclimated to the offense. It definitely seems like more of a conscious effort to bring the energy and enthusiasm in each drill, last year Nuss, KB, and Bloom were the "hype" men in practice and even if they weren't playing in the games, they didn't let their disappointment show. I know for all of us sophomores, those three were a huge reason that we were able to adjust fro high school to college basketball.

If you have read Sean Johnson's and Sexauer's most recent player journals, I'm sure that you have figured out how close we are all and how much of a family atmosphere our team actually has. Doug and I actually spent this whole summer working together at a warehouse for Dominick's Finer Foods. We worked the night shift from four PM till twelve thirty in the morning. Our job consisted of loading pounds and pounds of produce and juice onto palates then taking the palates onto the trucks that go out to every grocery store in the Chicago land area. So if you got some bad juice or something else, blame Sexauer.

I know that Titan basketball is headed in the right direction and there are some real quality basketball players and overall good guys on the team and coaching staff this year. The chemistry is there and I feel like its only a matter of time before we get to the next level and win a conference championship and make some noise in the national tournament. Everyone is working hard towards that collective goal. We don't want to just be another team, we all want to be a great team that can hang another banner in the Shirk Center, and everyone will remember for years to come.

This journal was really fun to write and its good that all the Titan basketball fans get to know us on a different level.

P.S. I wanted to say congratulations to newly engaged Titans Jason Bloom, and our manager Matt Bischoff.
